That sounds like an initializing error. What we'll do then is the following: • With the printer powered on, remove the toner from the printer. • With the printer still powered on, remove the power cord from the back of the printer for one minute. • When the printer finishes initializing, insert the toner cartridge.

If after following the above the printer still will not initialize, the toner or the printer needs to be replaced. If you are using a genuine, non-refilled toner, contact HP Support by and filling out the form at the bottom to discuss options based on your warranty.
