Hi there, Could do with some help. I saw another thread in this forum with the same issue but it was closed to post so I created this one. Just purchased a webcam to use on my pc with windows XP. Plugged it in and didn't go through the PnP wizard and is pretty much not seen. Device manager sees it as 'USB Composite Device' and the driver is 5.1.2600.0 and is dated 2001. Windows update doesn't find anything newer but the camera isn't working right and there must be a newer driver somewhere I just can't find it. I read in the other post that someone could find out what driver would work with the Device Instance Id?

I googled it but came up with nothing so if anyone could help out that would be great, the ID is USB VID_1908&PID_2311 5&243B83A0&0&1 Thanks in advance. Here's a site I go to There is no Vendor ID VID for 1908 I also plugged in the product ID PID of 2311 5&243B83A0&0&1 but nothing on that either. Then I tried 2311 and 2315, and 243B83A0 and last 243B83A1. I got nothing for anything I tried. As Frank posted, it probably doesn't work in XP. You need to search on eBay for cameras that specify they work in XP if that is the intended use.

Also, there is no such thing as a 'generic' webcam driver because they all use different chipsets. Without a Vendor, no one can guess the chipset and point you to a vendor's site with drivers on it. Hi Plodr/Liz Thanks for your reply! Wow, looks like you looked plenty and i appreciate it I also checked the picdatabase and couldn't find anything either. They ebay link I posted of the same cam wasn't my seller and it was advertised as working with XP, that was just the quickest link i found. I class microsoft standard drivers and generic because they work with most things That camera you found on the US ebay, that is the cam. On all the other listings I looked at on UK ebay none of them had the camera name on it.

The fosman site, yes that look s exactly the same as mine but it doesn't have the microphone attached and it says only 12 megapixels which is more like the truth of what the cam has I'm going to d/l the driver and see how I get on.
